The Office of Forestry is mandated by Louisiana Revised Statutes 3:4271 "... to protect, conserve, and replenish the natural resources of the state." The Office of Forestry meets its mandate through five divisions: Forest Protection; Forest Management; Information, Education and Urban Forestry; Reforestation; and Forestry Enforcement.

Louisiana Forest Stewardship Program

The Louisiana Office of Forestry is the lead agency for the Forest Stewardship Program in Louisiana. This program provides a means for state, federal, and private agencies to better coordinate their services to the private, non-industrial forest landowners for total resource management.

The Louisiana Forestry Association was formed in 1947 to foster the practice of forestry, to rebuild the state's cut-over lands, and to build a healthy forest industry.... The Louisiana Forestry Association today is a statewide, private, nonprofit association made up of more than 2,000 members, mostly foresters, large and small landowners, forest products industries, wood suppliers and loggers.
