The Sustainable Forests Alliance is also developing resources for landowners who want to restore natural and economically viable forests to their lands that have been damaged in the past by bad timber management.   From the best timber harvesting methods to when and where controlled burns can help, these resources will help landowners rehabilitate their forest lands to the best possible condition.  Wildlife, water quality, scenic beauty and landowner economics all benefit when damaged forest lands are restored carefully to a healthy forest ecosystem.

Allowing a mixture of native tree species (as opposed to planting a monoculture) along with careful thinning and light controlled burns have made this forest healthy and diverse.
