AppVoices campaigns for better forest management practices, working with private, non-industrial landowners who hold the majority of forested lands in the Appalachians. Due to a lack of accessible information, these landowners frequently obtain advice from industry foresters who are more interested in what is best for the pulp and paper interests than what is best for the landowner and their forest. AppVoices strives to inform landowners about profitable, ecologically sensitive timbering practices, and low-impact forestry (LIF).

The council acts as an information source for landowners, forest industry, economic developers and other forest interests. Private landowners...can be informed about environmentally responsible management to ensure that their forests will provide benefits for future generations... As the market expands, we must assure that the abundant natural resource values, such as wildlife and clean water, are maintained.
